JAI Launches New 2.8-Megapixel CCD Cameras

JAI today introduced the EL-2800M-PMCL and EL-2800C-PMCL, a new pair of 2.8-megapixel industrial camera models incorporating high fidelity ICX674 CCD imagers from Sony featuring EXview HAD CCD II technology. The cameras are the first models in JAI's new Elite Series of high fidelity industrial cameras designed for applications where image quality is paramount. The EL-2800 cameras deliver excellent sensitivity, improved NIR response, reduced smear, higher quantum efficiency and large image uniformity while minimizing shutter leakage and readout noise for increased image quality. The cameras can run 54.7 frames/s at full resolution (1920 x 1440 pixels) and at 60 frames/s in HD-mode - 1080 P60 (1080 x 1920 pixels).

Featuring Automatic Level Control (ALC), P-iris control and a programmable 3-axis motorized control capability, the cameras are well suited in outdoor applications with changing lighting conditions such as in traffic imaging, high-end surveillance and sports imaging. The cameras are also suitable for semiconductor inspection, microscopy, and ophthalmology + other areas where high dynamic range, maximum image quality and high light sensitivity are key requirements. In addition to raw Bayer output, the color model (EL-2800C-PMCL) can perform in-camera color 24-bit RGB interpolation at 15.8 fps. The monochrome model (EL-2800M-PMCL) offers excellent NIR sensitivity and supports 1 x 2, 2 x 1, or 2 x 2 binning modes for even greater sensitivity.

Both monochrome and color models feature fixed or variable partial scanning modes for increased frame rates, multiple trigger modes, a 256-point look-up table, and more. Dual Mini Camera Link connectors support Base or Medium configurations to achieve maximum frame rates depending on the bit depth of the output.
