The atracTable, recently presented by Sony and atracsys at the Vision show in Stuttgart, is the combination of a video-based movements tracking system, a computer, a beamer, and a screen. When an object is placed on the screen, the tracking system recognizes it thanks to a visual tracking tag on the base of the product. At the same time, the tracking system detects the positions and movements of the users' fingers and the objects on the screen. A key enabling component in automated milking systems is the 3D sensor that identifies and locates the teat positions on the cow's udder as it steps into the milking box. The information derived from the sensor is used to guide a robot arm to attach the milking cups to the teats. The entire process of locating teats and attaching cups must be robust, fast, accurate and safe, without disturbing or stressing the cow. more
