Hexagon Metrology celebrates production of the 1,000th DEA Global 7.10.7 CMM. The one with serial number 1,000 was delivered from Turin, Italy to Hirschvogel Umformtechnik GmbH in Denklingen, Germany. The company uses the CMM to measure un-machined and pre-finished parts for the automotive industry such as injection systems or parts for drives and gear units. The order was finalized by a visit of employees from Hirschvogel Umformtechnik to the Hexagon Metrology factory in Turin at the end of July where DEA measuring machines are being developed and produced.

Hexagon Metrology announced today the availability of CoreView 5.5 for the Cognitens WLS400 automated and manual white light measurement systems. The new version offers improved capabilities in measuring a work piece's geometric characteristics as well as 2D cross section analysis tools. Among other enhancements version 5.5 includes measurement and GD&T inspection of planar geometries broadening the Cognitens WLS400 system's application support and 3D visualization tools that allow users to measure sheet metal features faster and easier than before.

Confomap is a surface imaging and analysis software for confocal microscopes and compound microscopes for topographical research. The standard ConfoMap ST package includes numerous analytical studies. Geometric studies calculate distances, angles, areas, volumes and step heights on 2D profiles and 3D surfaces. Functional studies, including the bearing ratio curve and height distribution, facilitate the assessment of friction and wear on engineering surfaces.
