Point Grey announced the launch of its latest Flea3 USB 3.0 camera models. The new FL3-U3-13S2 models are based on monochrome and color versions of the Sony IMX035, a high-quality CMOS sensor capable of generating 1.3 megapixel (1328 x 1024) images at 120 FPS. The IMX035 uses Sony's Exmor technology, which combines the speed of CMOS with advanced-quality image sensor technologies accumulated through the development of CCDs.

The first available Flea3 models incorporate an 800 Mbit/s FireWire interface and are based on mono and color versions of the Sony ICX618, a 1/4-inch EXview HAD CCD that runs at 120 FPS, and ICX414, a 1/2-inch CCD that runs at 75 FPS. The Flea3 measures 29 x 29 x 30 mm, and offers new features such as opto-isolated GPIO for industrial triggering and strobe output, non-volatile flash memory for user data storage, and on-camera frame buffer.
