New Olympus Stream 1.7 with HDR

Olympus launched the latest version of its highly successful Olympus Stream software family for industrial and material science microscopy applications. Building on the renowned functionality of previous iterations, Stream 1.7 with High Dynamic Range (HDR) enables you to capture perfectly illuminated images, even when high material contrast occurs. All cameras have a limited dynamic range, meaning that they can only capture so much contrast within a single shot. more

Olympus with new digital colour camera

Olympus has introduced the new, easy-to-use SC100 digital colour camera for high quality brightfield imaging, especially where optimal colour reproduction and superior resolution are required. The 10.5 megapixels sensor of the SC100 allows samples to be investigated in minute detail, particularly when using a low magnification objective. This frees users from needing to take multiple, high magnification images of a sample to preserve resolution. more

Polarizing Technics

From silicon semiconductor manufacture and corrosion analysis, to even archaeological investigations: Surface metrology is rapidly emerging as a vital analytical technique to determine the materials' topology. This technique requires the use of a microscope able to accurately and repeatedly visualize even the minutest of details: a measuring confocal laser scanning microscope. more

NPL uses Olympus LEXT OLS4000

Olympus has today announced that the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) is using its LEXT OLS4000 in a project to establish good practice guidelines for the calibration of 3D/areal surface texture measuring instruments. The NPL project will establish robust and easy to use calibration steps and reference standards for all the major areal surface measurement instrumentation technologies, with the LEXT chosen as the reference imaging confocal microscope. more

A Virtual Slide System for Multiple Applications

Olympus has introduced a new improved version of its dotSlide virtual slide system. The new VS110 combines microscopy seamlessly with imaging to create a virtual slide that is an exact copy of the real specimen. Generating a high resolution image of the whole specimen, this can be viewed and analysed from the overview image at low magnification up to maximum magnification by simply zooming in. All samples can be evaluated around the world instantly and simultaneously as they are stored electronically on a central server. more

New High-Resolution Brightfield Objectives for Industrial Imaging

Olympus has introduced the new MPLAPON series of plan apochromatic objectives, which provide a high level of chromatic aberration correction for materials imaging. Completing the Olympus UIS2 objective range, the MPLAPON objectives are available in 50x and 100x magnification. Developed to provide excellent brightfield imaging, including DIC, the MPLAPON objectives feature numerical apperatures (N.A) of 0.95 and are fully compatible with active auto-focusing units. more
