Making the "Invisible" Visible with High-tech Image Processing Systems

Irish author Jonathan Swift knew that "vision is the art of seeing the invisible." This vision also drives the image processing specialist Isra Vision. True to the motto "The More You See," a well designed modular industrial image processing system has been made available. The system includes high-quality components such as colour line scan cameras, lighting systems, software modules and PC plug-in cards, which come together to form powerful, complete systems that meet the demands of each particular application. more

High tech ZM18 lasers for the inspection of moved and unmoved objects

The ZM18 laser family are used in image processing systems as structured light and illumination. The reflection techniques, which the lasers offer, can be applied for the inspection of moved and unmoved objects. The analogue and digital modulation of ZM18 at the same time allows variable laser intensities and the synchronisation with a system for image processing, e.g. with a camera. Depending on the type and shape of the objects, precise micro and macro lines or other optical patterns are applied like multi lines, dot matrix, crosshair, grid, circle and dotted circle. more

Quality Control with Intelligent Image Processing on Embedded Controller

In quality control, camera systems are mostly used as autonomous systems with their own intelligence. They are seldom integrated into the plant automation system. PC-based automation now combines image processing and automation in one solution. The consequence: Performance and flexibility increase, because several cameras can simultaneously record an object from various angles.  more

Smartcam: TopCam 6500/6510

TopCam 6500/6510 is equipped with newest DSP technology. With topSenso's efficient software they are able to read up to 10m/sec. with up to four different types of code can be measured at very high speed and at the same time. They detect all 1D-/2D code symbologies, OCR/OCV plain writing and have also some functions of the industrial image processing. Detection of areas, attendance check, print control and much more could be solved by LabelControl.

In the year 1984, I had initiated a special editorial series titled „Optical Systems for Construction, Development and Manufacturing" for a well-known professional journal for construction. Thus I am in the lucky position of having been able to experience and accompany the development of industrially-oriented image processing almost from the very beginning. more

Image Processing Basics: Sensitivity

What is the irradiance needed to produce a camera signal suitable for image processing? What are the maximum and minimum intensities in the brightest and darkest areas of an image, respectively, which will allow for stable algorithms? When tackling these questions, you will immediately realize that a short glance at a data sheet will not settle this case. The article describes some basic concepts which may be helpful for further reading about this complex topic. more

Image Processing Basics: Illumination

We are at the end of the first decade of the 21st century, the "century of the photon." Machine vision is an accepted technology on the factory floor in virtually all manufacturing industries and in a number of important non-industrial areas. But where are the groundbreaking innovations, the spectacular developments, the awesome achievements leading into new, unheard-of regions of knowledge and business? more
