Smart, Smooth, Strong

Over the last decade, the vision industry has produced a variety of "all in one" smart camera solutions to address a range of optical inspection needs, from elegant pass/fail vision sensors to compact vision systems. This evolution of integration and software simplification has made it easier for manufacturers to install and maintain machine vision on the factory floor. As a result, embedded vision solutions have become an integral and often essential ingredient for factory automation.

Award-winning Concept

Early 2009 "Team Itava" of the University of Potsdam Germany made the first place in the Senior Coaching Competition. The team had developed a smart camera which, compared to existing products in the market, deliberately dispensed with the use of any software-based components within the camera. This leads to increased security regarding viruses, worms and Trojans. In addition the image analysis is executed significantly faster than a software solution can provide for. more

Octopus 8 Headed Camera used in Flat Panel Display Inspection

Imaging Solutions Group has worked with a major Flat Panel Display manufacturer to implement an Automated Optical Inspection System (AOI) using the new ISG Octopus 8 headed camera system.

The system makes use of 8 Aptina (Micron) 5 MegaPixel image heads for a total unified image size of 40 MegaPixels in a 2 x 4 matrix. This aspect ratio is ideal for wide screen TV LCD Displays. The 8 heads are aggregated into a single unified image and can operate at up to 12 frames per second at full 40Mp resolution for high speed AOI. more

Silicon Software Releases “SmartApplets” for Applications

Silicon Software delivers „SmartApplets" hardware programming as partial solution for applications for its V-series frame grabbers. „SmartApplets" is different to onboard image enhancements or image corrections. It covers complex image preprocessing, segmentation or classification tasks, which are processed on the board FPGA in real-time and with a high algorithmic quality. Hereby applications are tremendously accelerated and the load of the host CPU significantly reduced. more

Hardware Constructors – or the Art of Designing a Frame Grabber

"Everything must change that everything will remain as it is". Unpleasant but daily life for a requirement change to a machine vision system. If the performance of the computer is exploited and restrictions in quality exhausted, there are only a few remaining possibilities of reacting to new conditions. Hidden Treasures more
